Minister of Environment Mr. Lefter Koka and Mr. Adamantios Frantzis, General Manager of ANTEA Cement as well as President of Albanian Corporate Social Responsibility Network, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the context of a National Afforestation Campaign to rehabilitate areas affected by erosion. The goal of the Memorandum is to enhance mutual cooperation under the principle of good will, to provide logistic support, human capacities and financial means that could help the nationwide afforestation campaign succeed. Present at the ceremony, Mr Koka said: “By the end of this year, the Ministry of Environment expects to plant 2.5 million trees, but we cannot rehabilitate the environment alone, so the businesses that have joined our afforestation campaign will give a valuable contribution. I want to guarantee the CSR Network that the Ministry of Environment will responsibly and transparently make sure all contributions are routed to the right destination. I want to thank businesses for this collaboration because our country has valuable assets that should be protected by everyone”.
President of the association, Mr. Adamantios Frantzis, stated that Albanian CSR Network’s member companies chose to donate a symbolic amount to the Ministry’s campaign. Obviously a considerable part of our staff, more than 3,000 individuals, will voluntarily plant a tree. Our participation certainly doesn’t stop here, because many of our members are exploring the possibility of a direct inclusion in the Ministry initiative.” The “Albanian CSR Network” is presided by ANTEA Cement and consists of 15 Albanian large businesses that are active in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility.
